My name is Holly Klein Oonk, and I am an observer by nature. With a degree in Applied Photography and Image Communication and the heart of a woodsman, I live at the intersection of technical expertise and raw wilderness. I don’t just take pictures; I read the landscape.

The Genesis: From the Ward to the Wild

"Before the studio lights and the formal education of my HBO studies, there was the red dust of Africa and the endless horizons of Mongolia. In my early twenties, after years of working in healthcare, I traded the sterile corridors for the raw pulse of the world. As an altruist by nature, I went there to serve, but I stayed to observe.

It was during these expeditions—documenting stories of local communities and the untamed wilderness—that I found my calling. I wasn't just taking pictures for those back home; I was preserving the grit and the soul of the journey for myself. These travels taught me that the most powerful stories aren't staged—they are lived. It was there, amidst the silence of the steppes and the heat of the savannah, that I decided to become a storyteller. Not just a photographer, but a witness to the unpolished truth."

The Shift: Back to the Essence

2025 was a year that forced me back to the drawing board. During a period of physical rehabilitation, the world slowed down, and the noise of the "standard" photography industry faded away. It was a turning point. I realized that I had outgrown the polished, clean style that everyone else was chasing. I was done with staged smiles and artificial perfection.

I found my voice in the grain of a 50mm frame. I chose to embrace the blur, the grit, and the unpredictable light of the outdoors. This isn't just a style; it’s a philosophy. It’s about letting go of control and letting the story tell itself.

The Grounded Explorer

As a "half-forester" with deep roots in nature and hunting, I understand the rhythm of the wild. Whether I am documenting a hunt in the Scottish Highlands or building a visual brand identity for an outdoor label, I bring a unique blend of patience and intuition.

My background in healthcare taught me how to connect with people; my education in photography taught me how to frame their soul. I work documentary-style—meaning I won't ask you to pose. I’ll give you a task, I’ll join your expedition, and I’ll capture the moments that happen when you think I’m not looking.
